Powder Mountain, Utah is quickly becoming a design destination for outdoor enthusiasts who prefer high style without resort crowds. The owners of Ridge Nest were one of the first invited to build, and I was commissioned to design a mico-cabin at 10,000 ft. elevation that could withstand even the harshest winters. A steep slope, huge snow loads, short building season, and remote location all had to be navigated. The foundation work was so robust, this little cabin was awarded Concrete Foundation of America’s first prize for design. An entire facade of operable glazing captures the incredible views and provides true ski in-ski out in winter, and indoor-outdoor living in summer.
